exploring inner worlds
It began with curiosity of drawing objects and portraits as realistic as possible. in my teenage years i found it fascinating to be able to recreate a picture just by looking and practicing motor skills.
my devotion to the practice led to participation in production of the world’s first hand-painted feature movie “loving vincent” with nomination to oscar, where i painted 348 fluently animated frames.
after this experience i felt stronger connection to painting and wanted to treat art more seriously.
i have an intuitive approach to creating my art. my inner need for development keeps me in constant searching and improvement, so did my art began to develop accordingly to my development as a person. working with emotions and dream realms confronted me with concepts that needed a different method. eventually realism was not sufficient to fulfill my art expression and ideas behind it. a blend of realism and abstraction reflect my way of intertwining material world with invisibilities — beliefs and emotions.
from all art medium that i’ve tried, oil painting and digital painting are mediums that stayed with me for longer and i get along best.
importance of creation process
art is an intimate practice that is given out to the public. vulnerability becomes a strength and artist’s identification mark.
it is not only about the final result. the process of creation is like the soul of the picture you look at. hidden from the eyes, living in the veil of time, hours consumed on learning the craft.
in painting process, i lose myself in the creation, my mind slows down and tries to deal with the given moment, that sometimes is pleasant, sometimes is a struggle. it’s a journey within and a dialog with canvas. to choose a direction, to go on, to move the boundaries of the give up moment.
it was my conscious choice to learn forms of art by myself, as i find learning as a fascinating journey and discoveries in art are often discoveries about myself.
